How to play.
Lornic is a 3D physics dice tray with customizable effects, dice pools, and a history that remembers every roll. Each pack is its own world — pick one from the home page and it sets the table for your session.
01Choose a pack
The home page shows the available packs. Each pack ships its own effects, textures, table surface, and mood. Selecting a pack takes you straight into the dice tray with that pack loaded.
To switch packs mid-session, use the home button (bottom-left of the tray) to go back to the picker. The page reloads with the new pack — effects and textures reset for a clean start.
02Throwing the dice
-
Pick your dice
Click the dice picker (bottom right). Click a die type to select it; click again to add another, up to six. Click a different type to switch.

Add a modifier (optional)
The small +0 button above the roll button opens a modifier popover. Use the stepper or the +1/+3/+5 presets to add a flat number to your total — handy for things like 2d6+4. Tap an active preset to clear back to zero. The button turns gold when a modifier is set.
-
Throw
Press Space or click the roll button — on mobile, shake your device. The dice tumble across the felt with real physics, settle, and slide to a tidy row at the front of the tray.
-
Read the result
The total flashes at the top of the screen along with a breakdown of every die. Multiple dice are summed automatically. D100 pairs combine into a 1–100 result. When a modifier is set, the dice math and the modifier are shown separately (e.g.
6 + 6 | +4) so it's always clear which numbers came from dice.
03Effects
Effects change how the dice look and what happens around them — each pack has its own set. Open the effects menu (lower-right) and pick a mode. Use the intensity slider to dial it from a whisper to a wildfire.
Fantasy pack — elemental effects:
Lava-cracked dice breathing fire and smoke. Embers drift up at high intensity.
Frosted dice trailing ice motes. Snowflakes drift down at higher intensity.
Acid-green dice exhaling noxious bubbles that wobble up and pop.
Violet runes through cracks, with occasional firework spark bursts.
Dirt-caked dice flinging clumps. Splats stick to the felt and stay.
Space pack — sci-fi effects:
Cyan-glow dice trailing sharp beam pulses as they roll.
Thrust plumes streak behind the dice on every throw.
Magenta arcs of energy crackle around the dice mid-roll.
Pale frost of deep-space cold, hexagonal crystal motes drifting.
Spiral distortion warps space around the dice as they land.
Cyberpunk pack — neon-grid effects:
Pixel-block sprites flash in acid green and magenta; a sweep bar strobes through.
Electric-blue ring sprites expand outward; a spark node fires and fizzles at the origin.
Hue-rotating streak sprites trail the die; neon-sign symbols flash and fade around it.
Phosphor-green dot rain cascades; a terminal decal flashes ACCESS GRANTED in bright green.
Metallic shard sprites spin outward; a crack-pattern sprite hovers briefly, then bursts.
Nautical pack — maritime effects:
Blue-white droplet sprites scatter in a splash arc; a wave-crest sprite sweeps the tray.
A tentacle sprite rises, grips the die briefly, then retreats into spreading ink sprites.
A brass-lantern sprite swings on a rope via pendulum motion; an amber light cone sweeps with it.
Coin sprites arc high, bounce with a wobble, and fade with a golden shimmer.
Western pack — frontier effects:
Tan sprites spiral up a dust-devil column; a spur sprite kicks them off at the base.
A white muzzle-flash sprite fires; smoke lingers and a bullet-hole floor decal punches in.
Twig-sphere sprites roll across the tray with rotation and trailing glow dust motes.
A dynamite sprite appears; fuse sparks burn down, then a flash-burst and debris sprites fly.
A coiled-snake sprite lunges; venom glow droplets arc from the fangs on impact.
Eldritch pack — forbidden effects:
Whip-line sprites lash from all sides; suction-cup dots stud each tendril at intervals.
Dark sprites bloom outward; a screaming-face sprite materialises briefly inside the void.
Iris-and-pupil sprites open in unison and rotate slowly before fading away.
Dark blob sprites ooze down the die; a floor-puddle decal spreads then slowly contracts.
Mushroom-cap sprites erupt from the floor and release dense spore-mote clouds.
04Surface textures
Layer a texture on top of any effect for an etched or organic surface. The texture button sits next to the effect picker. Textures are pack-specific.

Some textures are inner-object — the die is semi-transparent with something frozen or sealed inside.
05Roll history
Every roll is logged automatically. Click the clock icon (bottom-left) to open the panel. Each entry shows the total, your dice configuration, the breakdown, the active effect, and how long ago it was rolled.
History persists across reloads — your last fifty rolls follow you back. Use Clear to wipe the slate.
